Trane XR14 High Efficiency Heat Pump Reviews Features: Efficient Compressor (Climatuff) - They manufacture all their own compressors. They do not say the compressor is a scroll or other type of compressor but the photo in the marketing literature looks like they have a scroll compressor inside the XR-14. The scroll compressor is a good compressor.

I had an hvac contractor do a load test, determined that i need a 3 ton unit,
proposed the following:
We propose to install one new complete heating and cooling system. Horizontal in the crawlspace. To include: 1. Removal and disposal of old equipment and recovery of the old Freon as per EPA requirement 2. Install new gas furnace, indoor cooling coil, and outdoor condenser 3. Connect all duct work and mastic seal all new duct connections to make airtight along with installing a external filter rack 5. Install new proper furnace flue connector 6. Connect all low and high voltage electrical wiring 7. Install a new steel gas pipe outside the furnace housing and connect gas piping with an approved appliance connector 8. Flush and clean refrigerant lines 9. Connect PVC condensate drain lines and install a new condensate removal pump with an overflow safety switch 10. Install new digital programmable thermostat 11. Install new condenser pad and make unit level 12. Evacuate system and charge with new refrigerant 13. Check, test and adjust system for proper operation 14. Price includes a complimentary one year, two visit service agreement.
![Xr14 With Furnace Cost Xr14 With Furnace Cost](/uploads/1/2/4/9/124929238/720319138.jpg)
EQUIPMENT TO BE: Trane 80% afue 80,000 BTU XT80 high efficent single stage gas furnace(TUD1B080A9H3) with a 3 ton blower drive and the Trane 3 ton XR14(4TWR4036) 15 SEER high efficiency R410a Puron heat pump and Trane 3 ton all aluminum cooling coil (4PXHB036) with XL850 color touchscreen Wifi thermostat New metal, mastic sealed return plenum externally insulated Increase 6' to 8' in master bedroom New proper sized refrigerant line set
I had another contractor suggest to use a slab coil with proper transitions instead of an A coil, said that there is better airflow this way.
Also, i will be having a new line set put it.
Total price is around $5,750 , less a $250 discount, plus a $500 rebate from my local power company which leaves me at around 5k.. Any opinions on a slab coil vs an a coil? opinions on this system ?
